The activities of IIZN are aimed at researching theoretical methods and psycho-pedagogical. problems of informatization of education and science; substantiation of methodologies. principles of open education; research of informational and educational innovations and their implementation in education, science and practice; development of technologies for creating open education. environments in educational institutions; development and scientific method. support for the implementation of open educational sciences. information systems, Internet oriented databases; study of the effectiveness and safety of using computer-oriented educational, scientific, and management tools.

Since the year of its establishment, IITZN has been the director of Dr. Tech. Sciences, prof., active member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology Valery Yukhimovych Bykov.
